Did  you  know  how  many  Articles  that  we  have?

   Good !! There  are  three  Articles  that  we must  know. They are  a, an  and  the. Today I will teach  you  two  Articles. They  are  ‘a’  and  ‘an’

   There are the indefinite article and the definite article. The definite article are ‘a’ and ‘an’.It is because it does not refer to any particular person or thing that we are talking about.



A) A is used before words beginning with consonant sounds.
Examples :

                        a bike 



                        a pear 






                      a bread 





                     a bus  



B) An is used before words beginning with vowel sounds       
  ( a,e,i,o,u ) and  silent ‘h
Examples :

                   an apple 






                   an orange 



                    an aeroplane 



                  an air-balloon

SET INDUCTION :            1. Role play – teacher acts like a hungry ( 5 minutes )  person. Pupils
                                           respond.
                                                                2. Teacher brings a basket of food.
                                                                3. Teacher asks the pupils to guess what  are in the basket.
                                                                4. Pupils guess. Then the teacher  introduce the topic for today.
  ACTIVITY 1 :        a. Shared reading – teacher reads the story  (15 mnts  from the big book.
                                                  b. Pupils listen.
                                                  c. Teacher points to the vocabulary of food.
                                  ACTIVITY 2 : Focused Word Work - Teacher shows the  ( 15 mins )    pictures of     
                                    food.
                                                  Teacher says the words. Pupils repeat after   the teacher. 
                                                  Pupils spell the words ( individual or the   whole class )
  ACTIVITY 3 :    Independent work –      (15 mins)  
  Teacher distributes the worksheet.
               Pupils do the worksheet.
               
  ACTIVITY 4 – Summing up – Sing a song.   ( 10 mins )
